Hey, guys.

So, there's little news out on the new KH2:Final Mix and RE:Chain of Memories, but initial reports are implying (though not stating outright) that it may not be brought over to North America. This is not a surprise, of course, but it is a disappointment.

With KH1, I kind of let that pass, but it occurs to me that writing a nice letter telling Square-Enix USA that I *want* it will make it more likely to happen. In fact, every person who writes a letter to Square-Enix showing that they want Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, RE:Chain of Memories, or both... will make it that much more likely to happen. Businesses take every person who writes in as a sign of a lot of people who feel the same way but didn't make the effort.

I know this is awkward to a lot of people, but I'm going to ask you, if you want this game, to considre writing the company. It can be a short letter or a long one, but every little bit is likely to help. All I ask is that you keep your tone polite, enthusiastic, and hopeful -- we're not here to harass them or accuse them, just show them how much we want it.

I browsed through S-E USA's website, and they said to direct all company questions to support[at]square-enix-usa[dot]com. There was no other address to contact them given, so I'm using that, but with a note that I'm not sure if it's the right one, and if it isn't, to please forward it to the correct department.

I'm not going to C&P the letter I'm sending (because a C&P of that which someone else sent in would have less effect than unique/new letters), but if you want to write and aren't sure what to say, here's the point form notes of the things I covered:

- Subject heading: includes the names of the games and a 'about a possible North American relaese'
- Note that I'm not sure if this is the right address, and if not, can they please forward it to the right place, thanks.
- My statistical information (name, location, age, gender)
- The names of the games again
- Expression of my enthusiasm over the fact they were being made and due to be released in Japan in Spring 2007, and my fear they wouldn't be brought over.
- Expression of my love of the series, and how I'd regretted not getting KH1:Final Mix (and things I missed out on because of it), and didn't want to miss out again.
- Hope that they will, in fact, bring it over.
- Double emphasis likewise on RE:Chain of Memories, and that even if we didn't get Final Mix, I hoped they'd still bring that over.
- Understanding that it might be difficult to dub, but expressed total willingness to play the game with the voices in Japanese with English Subtitles.
- Mention of other people who were likewise interested and really wanted the game. ("I talked to all my friends and they also were really enthusiastic", that sort of thing)
- Asking what I, as a fan, can do to help the company get these games translated and brought over to North America.
- Thanking them for the time they took to read my letter
- full name.

- Check, again, that the entire letter is polite, hopeful, and expressing a willingness to do what I can to help get it.

If people are willing to do this -- heck. We might see it after all. And if not, at least we tried, right?

Thanks! And feel free to pass this on to other fans. :) Linking is fine, C&Ping is fine, whatever, really. :Db

ETA:
Another post suggesting similar things, also with a link to an (online) petition for bringing over RE:CoM.

Excellent point. If anyone wants to go to the extra effort/expense of sending a letter (since in my experience, pretty much all companies pay a lot more attention to physical letters than they do emails), the only US address I could find was for people to send their resumes to. However, I'm assuming that if you send a letter expressing how much you want CoM/Final Mix there, it'll get forwarded to the right place. The address is:

Square Enix, Inc.
999 Sepulveda Boulevard, Third Floor
El Segundo, CA 90245

Dude, I live half an hour away from there. WEIRD. I don't guarantee this being the right spot, so the address for the Japanese headquarters is:

SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD.
Shinjuku Bunka Quint Bldg.
3-22-7 Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku,
Tokyo 151-8544, Japan

If anyone wants to write there.

I'm not so sure that writing to S-E Japan is going to do you much good. It's usually the US wing of a games company that makes the decision on whether or not a game gets released, I believe. They'll make it out to E3 for interviews and the like, but only after the US arm has confirmed that the game is coming out.

I'd also be wary of sending a letter to the resume department. It's been my experience that games companies are kind of stratified in that sense. I've had e-mails lost corresponding with one person about one game, I'd hate to see what would come of a branch having to deal with entirely unrelated letters.

No prob. I was just hoping I didn't come off as too much of a negative nancy :S

Good luck, though.

Not at all. Warnings and cautions do help keep things from getting muddled, and you still had an encouraging tone, IMHO.

Thanks! XO

Point on both. I have very little idea how game companies decide where to release stuff, so I'm very open to corrections.

Looking further around, though, it looks like the Sepulveda address is the general NA headquarters (since they say on their website that their NA headquarters are located in LA, and going to a couple online yellow pages, that's the only LA location.) Also while looking for that, I found out that their phone number is (310) 846-0400. If anyone wants to call. I hate phones, so I won't.

Thank you! I didn't put the resume address because I figured it'd get lost/since they asked people to send to support, but since they mention the warrenty department being in the same building, that's about the right area to send it to, if you want to write hard mail.

I'm not sure SE Japan would be able to do much -- they're pretty separate, afaik. But thank you nevertheless -- just in case, heh!

Yeah, it looks, on further investigation, to be the NA headquarters location, so I'm guessing it's the best place to send any letters. And yeah, the Japanese address looks pretty useless. Ah well!

Just in case Jenn doesn't see my post over there:

I BRING NEWS.

I called an extremely nice lady on the phone number given, and she said that she didn't have any information to give me, but that if we emailed letters to her address, she would pimp them around endlessly for us and get on everyone's nerves until there was some action.

The email she gave me was reception[at]square-enix-usa.com.

She told me to tell my friends. So if anyone doesn't mind emailing again... &hearts

I think this is an *extremely* good idea. I believe that much of the Kingdom Hearts merchandise and attention paid by Nomura's team wouldn't have been devoted without the support of the fans, English speaking fans included. I firmly believe that Nomura has changed his mind about putting more towards the series after seeing how well received KHII was, how profitable and popular the series still is.

Even if the petitions and letters don't reach our main audience, at least if enough are received, the companies will see potential for further proftit if nothing else, and we'll all win on some level.

I'm going to participate as well. I think for a series we enjoy, it's a worthwhile way to spend a little extra time. ♥ Thanks for organizing this ^-^

I posted a link to this entry and your LJ on my own journal along with a few other links and the e-mail for Square-Enix. I'll probably also post this to my Xanga and my MySpace, maybe even my DA journal. I'm also sending an e-mail when I get the chance. Hopefully more people send e-mails and even more hopefully we'll be able to get at least one of these two games over here.

A great idea!! Haha, I live in Singapore, and if Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix and Chain of Memories are not going to get to Europe or North America, I bet there is no chance that it will get to Asia!

I will certainly try to write in. Erm I'm sorry, I don't quite know about Square Enix branches, but if I do write, is there a certain branch that I should send it to?

Thank you!

Okay...I'm thinking of E-Mailing the hell outta Squenix NA. I mean...for the first KH I let it slide cause we got extra features, but KH II got the same things the Japanese version got and once again we get the shaft! It's almost like a slap in the face.

Gunneryunagurl do you have any suggestions?! I WANT THIS GAME NOW!!
